Today, there are dozens of types of meditation, but the most famous and used of them are Mindfulness, Body scanning, Concentration, Transcendental and Loving kindness meditations. The study took a place in American non-profit organization where they had found that those workers who meditated regularly had a high emotional quotient and, most importantly, were less stressed. In addition to this, the participants showed improvements in mood, the ability to easily cope with stress and adapt quickly. Quoting Laurent Valosek executive director of the Center for Health and Educational Advancement: "This study demonstrates the benefits of meditation in the workplace," to reduce stress and develop competencies such as focus, self-awareness and empathy,” he added.
Another study had been done and published in The Permanente Journal, which involved 100 employees of the central office. It found that those employees who practised Transcendental meditation, which is directed inward, which allows the mind to go into a deeper and calmer state. Both of studies confirmed improvements in Emotional Intelligence and Perception of Stress.
In conclusion, we would note that the allocation of 10 minutes to the practice of meditation will allow you to upgrade both, your inner well-being and interaction with others.
I also had the impression, that meditating is getting more and more important in our western, work-orientated society. Reading that this impression is now also based on facts, in this case the study, is highly interesting.
ReplyDeleteMeditating personally helped me a lot in a stressful environment. The increasing control of the body itself and therefore also the control of emotions and stress in my opinion is more important than actual hard skills. If you are able to control your emotions and stay calm in stressful times, you are basically able to learn any hard skill, even if you don't particularly like to learn them. You can control the emotion of “not wanting to do it” and overcome that feeling in order to learn that new skill. Demonstrating that ability to a potential employer can help dramatically to get the job you want or even to become an entrepreneur.
Thus, mastering the skill of emotional intelligence and stress control with the help of meditating seems to be the most important skill in 2022 for me!
We do agree with the article. As future entrepreneurs, it is vital to know techniques to enhance our stress management skills and develop our emotional intelligence, focus, self-awareness and empathy. Meditation is one of these techniques. It gives the equilibrium needed and positive energy. We learn a lot of things, but we do not know how to control our body, the most complicated machine in the Universe. So first, to be able to manage a business, we should be able to manage ourselves. Stress and also our emotions influence our life and the ability to make decisions if we do not know how to handle them. Not only in the workplace or in making business but also in the everyday life. Meditation is a practice that should be given more importance.
